CraftKeep

Acceptable use policy

Draft under legal review. Not in effect. The final version will be published before CraftKeep collects any account or payment details.

Why we have this policy

CraftKeep is a home for your craft files: embroidery designs, cut and SVG files, laser and vinyl projects, 3D printing files, patterns, and the PDFs and videos that go with them. Crafters trust us with libraries they have spent years building, and we count on everyone to use CraftKeep with the same care.

This policy sets out what is and is not allowed. It is part of our terms of service and applies to everyone who uses CraftKeep, including people you share files with and, once guilds launch, every guild member. You agree not to break these rules yourself and not to help anyone else break them.

Use CraftKeep lawfully

Use CraftKeep only for lawful purposes and in line with the laws that apply to you.

Respect designers and their licenses

Only upload and share files you have the right to keep and share. Many craft designs are licensed for personal use only, so check each designer's terms before you share anything. Please do not:

  • share paid or licensed designs beyond what the license allows
  • remove or change a designer's credits or license details
  • use private shares or guilds to pass around pirated or infringing designs
  • give away or sell other people's designs without their permission

Our copyright policy explains how to raise a copyright concern and how we respond.

Keep CraftKeep secure

Help us keep every library safe. Do not:

  • upload, store or share malware, or any file built to damage devices, software or data
  • try to get into accounts, libraries or files that are not yours or not shared with you
  • probe, scan or test our systems for weaknesses, or try to get around security or sign-in protections
  • interfere with the service or overload it with traffic

If you think you have found a security issue, let us know through our contact page, and leave other people's data untouched. Our security page has more on how we protect CraftKeep.

No scraping or automated abuse

Do not use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to collect data from CraftKeep or to flood it with requests, except through features we provide for that purpose. Do not create accounts in bulk or try to disable rate limits and similar protections.

Share fairly

Sharing is meant for friends, customers, clubs and, later, guilds. It is not meant for mass distribution. Stay within the bandwidth and sharing limits of your plan, and do not:

  • turn shared links into a public download site or file mirror
  • spread shared links in ways meant to drive large numbers of downloads
  • open extra accounts to get around storage limits, plan limits or enforcement action

Content that is never allowed

Some content has no place on CraftKeep. Do not upload, store or share:

  • anything illegal, including child sexual abuse material, which we report to the authorities
  • content that harasses, threatens or bullies other people
  • content that promotes hatred against people because of who they are
  • other people's private information shared without their permission

Be honest about who you are

Do not pretend to be CraftKeep staff, another user, a designer or anyone else. Do not send false copyright reports or misuse our support and reporting tools.

Guilds and shared spaces

When guilds become available, guild owners and admins will be responsible for how their shared library is used, including who can upload, download and invite others. Every guild member must follow this policy.

How we enforce this policy

We review reports and signs of misuse fairly, and our response matches how serious the issue is. Depending on what happened, we may:

  • send you a warning or ask you to make a change
  • remove access to shared content while we look into it
  • remove content that breaks this policy
  • suspend your account
  • terminate your account

For serious or repeated issues, or when the safety of other people or the service is at risk, we may act right away. We may also report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.

Decisions about the confidential list of people who may not hold an account, described in our terms of service, are separate from this process and are not subject to notice or appeal.

Reporting a problem

If you see something on CraftKeep that breaks this policy, tell us through our contact page. Please include enough detail for us to find the content and understand the concern. For copyright issues, follow the steps in our copyright policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as CraftKeep grows. If we make a material change, we will tell you before it takes effect.
