Copyright and content concerns
Draft under legal review. Not in effect. The final version will be published before CraftKeep collects any account or payment details.
Respecting designers and their work
CraftKeep is built for crafters, and crafting depends on designers. Many of the files in a craft library, from embroidery designs to cut files and 3D models, come with licenses that say how they may be used and shared. This policy explains what we expect from people who use CraftKeep and how to raise or respond to a copyright concern.
This policy is part of our terms of service and works alongside our acceptable use policy.
Your responsibilities
Uploading
You may upload files you own or have the right to keep, such as your own designs and designs you have bought or downloaded under a license that allows you to store them.
Sharing
Your library is private by default. When you choose to share a file, you confirm that you have the right to share it with the people you are sharing it with. CraftKeep's sharing tools are designed to respect designer licenses. For example, you may be asked to confirm your rights before sharing, and content may carry license or provenance details from its designer.
Before you share, check the license that came with the design. Many licenses allow personal use only, and many do not allow files to be passed on to others.
Reporting a copyright concern
If you believe content on CraftKeep infringes your copyright, please send a notice through our contact page. So that we can act quickly, your notice should include:
- Your name and contact details, and the name of the rights holder if you are acting on their behalf.
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
- Where the material appears on CraftKeep, such as the shared link or other details that help us find it.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Please report only content you believe in good faith is infringing. Knowingly false reports may carry legal consequences.
Designated agent
What happens after a report
When we receive a complete notice, we review it promptly. While we review it, we may remove public or shared access to the reported content. If we find that the content infringes, we remove it or disable access to it. Where we can, we tell the person who shared it what was reported and what action we took.
Because libraries are private by default, reports usually concern content that has been shared. Files kept privately in someone's own library are generally not visible to anyone else.
Counter-notice
If content you shared was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that you have the right to share it, you can send a counter-notice through our contact page. Your counter-notice should include:
- Your name and contact details.
- A description of the content that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith that the content was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court for disputes about the content.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
When we receive a complete counter-notice, we may share it with the person who sent the original report. We may restore the content unless the reporting party tells us they have started legal action.
Repeat infringers
CraftKeep has a repeat-infringer policy. If an account is the subject of repeated valid copyright reports, we may limit its sharing features, suspend it or close it, as appropriate.
Other content concerns
If your concern is about something other than copyright, such as a trademark, a license dispute between a designer and a buyer, or content that breaks our acceptable use policy, please tell us through our contact page. Include as much detail as you can, and we will review it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as CraftKeep grows. If we make material changes, we will let you know before they take effect.
