Recovery

Recovering deleted files and earlier versions

Restore deleted designs from Trash, go back to an earlier version of a file, and undo bulk changes, without losing any of your history.

Updated

CraftKeep launches soon. This guide describes how it works at launch.

Mistakes happen. A design gets deleted by accident, a file gets replaced with the wrong one, or a tidy-up goes further than you meant. CraftKeep is built so that everyday mistakes can be put right.

Trash

When you delete a file or a whole design package, it moves to Trash instead of disappearing. It leaves your active library, so your searches and folders stay clean, but it can still be brought back.

Trash is always in the main navigation alongside Home, My Library, Recent, Favorites and Shared.

Restoring from Trash

Open Trash, find the item and restore it. A restored design package comes back with:

  • its place under the same maker and series
  • its details, such as name, notes and cover
  • all of its files
  • its earlier versions, which remain available

Each item in Trash shows when it will expire, so you always know how long you have. The Trash period is shown in the app and on the pricing page at launch.

Earlier versions of a file

If you replace a file in a design package with a new copy, CraftKeep keeps the earlier one as a previous version instead of overwriting it. You can see a file's history in the Preview/Details panel.

How restoring a version works

When you restore an earlier version, CraftKeep makes it the new current version. The version you are moving away from is not deleted. It stays in the history too.

For example, say a file has three versions:

  1. The original you uploaded
  2. A corrected copy you uploaded later
  3. A copy that turned out to be wrong

If you restore version 1, it becomes version 4, the current one. Versions 1, 2 and 3 all remain in the history, so you can change your mind again later. Restoring never silently overwrites another file.

Design package history

CraftKeep also keeps the history of each design package as a whole: which files it held, its name and details, its cover and how its variations fit together. If you remove a file from a package or rename it and later want the earlier arrangement back, you can return the package to how it was.

Undo for bulk changes

When you rename or delete many items at once, CraftKeep shows you what will change before it happens, and you can undo the whole change afterwards. A big tidy-up never has to be a leap of faith.

Your original files are never changed

Renaming makers, series or designs only changes labels. Standardized names are added alongside the original filenames rather than replacing them. Your original files stay exactly as uploaded throughout. See Makers and series.

Storage and recovery

Your storage view in the app shows active files, earlier versions and Trash separately, so you can see where your space is going. Details of how each counts toward your plan are shown in the app and on the pricing page at launch.
