CraftKeep

Finding and previewing

Searching your library

Find any design by maker, series, design name, theme or old filename, with typo-tolerant search, craft synonyms, filters and a note on why it matched.

Updated

CraftKeep launches soon. This guide describes how it works at launch.

Search is always at the top of CraftKeep, ready for whatever you remember about a design. You might remember the designer, the bundle, a theme, or just a fragment of a filename. Any of those is enough.

What you can search for

Type what you remember and CraftKeep looks across:

  • Maker, including any aliases the maker goes by
  • Series or project
  • Design name
  • Theme, topic or tags, such as "fox", "Christmas" or "baby quilt"
  • Original filenames, exactly as the maker named them
  • Standardized names that CraftKeep adds for you
  • Original folder names from your upload
  • File type, such as PES, SVG, DXF or STL
  • Text inside eligible PDFs and text files, such as a phrase from the instructions

Searching for a maker, a series, a theme or an old filename can each lead you to the same design. See PDFs and videos for more on searching inside instructions.

Forgiving search

You do not need to type perfectly:

  • Typo tolerance: small misspellings still find what you meant.
  • Partial words: results start to appear as you type the beginning of a word.
  • Craft synonyms: common crafting terms are understood together. For example, searching for ITH also finds designs described as in-the-hoop, and the other way around.

One result per design

Each design appears once in your results, even if it comes in ten formats and three sizes. That is because CraftKeep searches by design package. Open the result to see every file inside. See Design packages and variations.

Why it matched

Every result shows why it matched your search, such as the maker name, the series, an old filename or a phrase in a PDF. When the match was in a specific file inside the package, that file is pointed out. This makes it easy to tell at a glance whether a result is the one you want.

How results are ordered

Stronger matches come first. A design whose name matches your search ranks above one where the word only appears in passing inside its instructions. Matches on maker and series names rank highly too.

Filters

Narrow your results with simple filters, then refine further only if you want to. Filters can include:

  • Craft, such as embroidery, SVG and graphics, vinyl, laser or 3D printing
  • Format, such as PES, DST, SVG, DXF or STL
  • Maker
  • Favorites and collections
  • Machine, dimensions and tags, where that information is available for a design

For example, choosing SVG plus a maker shows only that maker's SVG designs.

Private by design

Search only ever shows designs you are allowed to see. Your private library never appears in anyone else's results. See Privacy and copyright.
